"Let's Talk Science" shows mechanisms according to Gaia-X principles

Cooperation based on data will determine the production of tomorrow. If you want to keep up, you have to develop new business models based on this. However, many companies are afraid of losing control over their own data and risk missing the boat. But there are data protection-compliant solutions based on the Gaia-X principles.

Gaia-X is a European initiative with the aim of building a federated European data infrastructure based on the principles of sovereignty, security, transparency and interoperability. "It is a data protection-compliant, sovereign response to US or Asian cloud providers known as hyperscalers," explains Markus Weber. On July 27, 2022 at 8:30 a.m., he will explain how to get around the data protection dilemma in the live webinar Let's Talk Science.

The scientist heads the Austrian-German project EuProGigant (European Production Giganet) in Germany. This is the Gaia-X lighthouse project for the manufacturing industry, which is funded by Austrian and German ministries. As part of the project, a cross-location, digitally networked production ecosystem will be established by 2025. "It represents a disruptive vision for the Internet of the future in the manufacturing industry," says Weber confidently.

Networked and yet secure

Until now, many companies have been reluctant to share production data on a platform. The fear of losing control over this data is too great. EuProGigant, on the other hand, opens up a cross-company but GDPR-compliant space for new digital business ideas. "Every company generates large amounts of data. As owners of their own data, they have many opportunities to participate in new business models. They can offer their data safely and securely to other companies in the ecosystem and thus open up a completely new source of income for their business model," says Weber. "In addition, each company would contribute in this way to safer and more resilient European value and supply chains."
