Pilot project by Currax and Siemens
Box sends engine data to the cloud for analysis
Drive specialist Currax and Siemens have launched a pilot project for Simotics Connect 400. The connectivity module enables operating data to be forwarded directly to a cloud-based app in future and promises increased efficiency and a longer service life for components.
With this project, Currax and Siemens want to take a further step towards converting modern production systems to Industry 4.0. In the pilot phase, the drive specialist is testing the function of the box with selected individual customers. This will generate the best empirical values. All motor operating data is sent directly to a web application via WLAN without any structural changes. Regular data analysis enables system operators to quickly and efficiently gain an overview of the operating status of their drive systems and plan their service as required.
Until now, the Connection Box was only available for Siemens 1LE5 motors. In future, it will also be available for motors up to size 100. It will then be pre-assembled and can be put into operation immediately. "Together with our app, which we expect to launch this year, our customers will have all the relevant products for IDS Digital at their fingertips," says Daniel Aßmann, Managing Director of Currax.
Simotics Connect contains all the necessary sensors for recording data on engine vibrations or temperature, a WLAN communication module and a battery for stand-alone operation. This processes and stores the recorded operating data and sends it to a web application for cloud-based analysis. Special algorithms use this data to generate meaningful key figures that describe the condition of the motors. Specific action requirements can be derived from this. If required, users can also achieve greater reliability, availability and improved performance for existing motors. as
