Performance Monitor

All important data at a glance

In-tech has developed a performance monitor for ASM. The APM provides insight into KPIs, analyzes the utilization of the machines or shows the current production status. Each user only receives the information they need.

ASM is a supplier and partner for electronics production. Among other things, the company produces printers and placement solutions for electronics production - these devices are used in highly complex production environments and manufacture various products. One of the challenges here is to use the machines as efficiently as possible. High capacity utilization and short batch changeover times must be ensured. In order to better support customers in this, ASM commissioned In-tech as a partner in the development of the ASM Performance Monitor (APM).

The APM was created partly on the basis of the modular Smartconnect system and runs on smartphones, desktops and info screens. The solution offers views for different user roles, from the machine operator to the production manager. They see exactly the information they need at any given time on the APM.

APM provides production managers with an insight into all important KPIs such as capacity utilization, performance and component rejects. This information supports those responsible in the analysis and optimization of production processes and enables new products to be introduced more efficiently. During ongoing production, the APM enables production managers to set current production targets and analyze current capacity utilization and productivity. Deviations from the target values are made visible so that those responsible can intervene quickly.

A large information display shows the machine operators in production important information about the current production status, such as target and actual quantities or the current line status.

The In-tech team used the Smartconnect modular system to develop the app. This provides basic functionalities and enables the rapid implementation of individual smart factory solutions. Using existing modules, the concept was quickly brought to life for the customer with clickable mockups and prototypes. Based on customer feedback, an individually tailored solution was created in short development cycles.

No unnecessary information

The team placed particular emphasis on user-centered design: the aim was to provide users with exactly the information they need at any given time and thus create optimum usability for all end users.

ASM first selected the key figures that were to be displayed in the solution. The briefing consisted of a comprehensive overview of a wide range of KPIs. In-tech developed the appropriate information architecture to create a clear structure for displaying the required data. Building on this, the team developed the interaction concept for the different user roles and end devices. The visual design of the application supports usability and user experience. as
