Natural branding
Fruit and vegetables under the laser
The new food laser marker from Bluhm enables the efficient and environmentally friendly labeling of fruit, vegetables and other foods in multiple uses. The heart of the system is a 30-watt CO2 laser e-Solarmark with an optical system measuring 210 x 210 millimetres.
The laser marks four products at a time. Although each fruit and vegetable has grown differently and can vary in height, this does not affect the end result due to the greater focus tolerance. A 3D focus of 40 millimetres can be used to compensate for larger deviations. For a larger marking area, a lens with a width of up to 600 millimetres is available as an option.
The laser applies easily legible content such as the organic seal or the PLU code (price look-up code) directly onto the product. No labels or films are required for this process, which is why it is also referred to as "natural branding". The system is designed for flexible product handling: With the right workpiece carrier, not only fruit and vegetables can be labeled directly, but also bread rolls, cheese rinds, meat or eggs, for example.
With natural branding, the label is applied directly to the food. A layer is either removed or slightly burnt by heating. There are types of fruit and vegetables that are particularly suitable for laser marking, such as avocados, sweet potatoes and kiwis. As no packaging materials or labels are used in natural branding, the ecological footprint is very small. In addition, no foreign substances such as label glue or ink are used. Laser marking is harmless. Another advantage: unlike labels, which can easily peel off, laser marking is durable. as
