Compressors and treatment components

Mara Hofacker,

A team for smart compressed air supply

Compressors, compressed air preparation and distribution - all components of a compressed air station should work as efficiently as possible on their own. However, they are not lone warriors, but a team. And a team works best when it is optimally coordinated. This function is performed in a compressed air station by the Sigma Air Manager 4.0 (SAM 4.0) compressed air management system.

Today, higher-level control systems should no longer just offer the option of using compressors as required. Efficiency is playing an increasingly important role. This is why Kaeser has developed a patented simulation-based optimization process which, by observing the compressed air consumption curve and the system behaviour in conjunction with the technical conditions, anticipates the most efficient switching actions - acting instead of reacting.

The decisive factor is no longer a narrow pressure band, but achieving the lowest possible costs for compressed air generation through intelligent energy-saving switching strategies.

Kaeser Kompressoren offers the Sigma Smart Air service package to meet the requirement that compressed air is always produced in the optimum quantity and quality as cost-effectively as possible and is reliably available throughout its entire life cycle. With the Sigma Smart Air service package, the service of tomorrow is already possible today, because in addition to providing access to predictive maintenance, the package supports the gradual digitalization of a compressed air system, in line with Industry 4.0. Kaeser says it supplies and supports the customer's entire compressed air supply 365 days a year and only charges the customer for the compressed air they actually use. At the heart of this service package is the Sigma Air Manager 4.0, which performs control tasks as well as streaming data to the Kaeser Plant Control Center. The process data is transmitted in encrypted form and in real time, including via a wireless modem. This ensures safe and efficient operation of the compressed air system over its entire life cycle.

The new Secotec TG energy-saving refrigeration dryers also ensure efficient compressed air treatment. With the new TG series, Kaeser is expanding its Secotec energy-saving refrigeration dryers up to volume flows of 98 m³/min in air- and water-cooled versions. The compact giants ensure stable pressure dew points with maximum reliability and minimum life cycle costs, even under the toughest conditions. The powerful cold storage concept and the network-compatible Sigma Control Smart control system, which comes as standard, ensure material-friendly and energy-saving operation in all load phases. The innovative exhaust air control of the air-cooled versions sets new standards in terms of operational reliability and cost efficiency.
