Servo pumps

Permanent lubrication of the internal gearing

High efficiency, better process performance and low heat generation. These are just some of the advantages of a servo pump. Due to rising energy costs, their use is now standard equipment for machine manufacturers.

End customers are increasingly looking at the total cost of ownership and seeing that the purchase price of a servo pump often pays for itself within a year thanks to the significant reduction in energy consumption.

Baumüller has worked continuously with its customers on further development and has now launched a new servo pump version on the market. The hydraulic pump is attached directly to the motor with gearing. This eliminates the need for a coupling and bellhousing as with classic servo pump versions, which results in a shorter installation length and a smaller machine footprint. The direct attachment also means that mechanical parts are no longer required.

Another advantage is the intelligent use of hydraulic oil. In the latest version, connections have been added to both the motor and the fixed displacement pump in order to use the leakage flow from the pump to permanently lubricate the gearing. This eliminates the need for grease lubrication of the internal gearing, which is due on average every 3,000 operating hours.

As the holes for the connections are available on both sides, the motor can be installed vertically or horizontally. The motor position can therefore be freely selected and adapted to the respective machine design.
The new features are available for the three-phase synchronous motor series DSD2 in sizes 71 and 100 and are very well suited for plastic and die-casting machines. Size 132 will follow shortly.

Customers can also use the existing holes in the motor for their own sensors. For example, pressure sensors for monitoring the oil lubrication of the internal gearing or leakage sensors can be attached. With the servo pump, the drive specialist combines the advantages of hydraulic power transmission with the benefits of electric servo drive technology.

The drive package consists of a fixed displacement pump, a DSx servomotor, a b-maXX-5000 inverter and the servo pump software module integrated in the inverter. Thanks to the integrated software module of the servo pump, the solution can be used independently of the manufacturer of the respective machine controller.
