New offices and production hall
Yaskawa opens extension building in Allershausen
After a nine-month construction period, Yaskawa has put its extension with 5,000 square meters of floor space into operation at the Allershausen site. Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, also attended the official opening.
Yaskawa is strengthening its production and storage capacities at the European Robotics Division headquarters in Allershausen with the extension to the company headquarters, which it moved into in 2012: the new hall comprises a warehouse of around 1,600 square meters as well as a workshop and production area of more than 2,000 square meters plus an office building. In future, Yaskawa will build robot welding systems and commission customer-specific industrial robots for European customers from a wide range of industries. In addition, around 1,200 square meters of new office space on three floors will provide room for employees who were previously spread out at separate locations. The previous premises at the former site in the Kammerfeld industrial estate will be gradually vacated.
Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Ilse Aigner said on the occasion of the official opening: "Bavaria is an internationally recognized high-tech and production location. We offer an outstanding environment of academia, industry and networks, right in the heart of Europe. This is also demonstrated by the expansion of Yaskawa, one of the world's leading players in the field of industrial robots."
The extension, which cost around eight million euros, is designed as an energy-efficient building in accordance with the KfW 55 standard. Features include energy-saving LED lights and an energy-efficient cooling system for the offices. The energy requirements are largely covered by renewable sources such as biogas and the company's own photovoltaic system.
"Europe is a leader in many technologies and we want to be even more present for our European customers in order to develop efficient and tailor-made robotics solutions with them," explains Manfred Stern, President and CEO of Yaskawa Europe. As part of its current expansion, Yaskawa has therefore not only built the new premises in Allershausen, but also laid the foundation stone for the company's first European robot plant in Kocevje, Slovenia, in the fall of 2017. From 2018, the first Motoman robots from Yaskawa will be manufactured there using purely European production methods. as
