The Yamaha Robotics Factory Automation division will present robots and applications that demonstrate the outstanding flexibility, productivity and quality in the production of batteries for electric cars and other industrial processes at Automatica 2023 in Munich from June 27 to 30.

A particular focus for Scara robots will be on the YK1200X, which is designed for high accuracy, an arm length of up to 1200 mm and a payload of up to 50 kg. Visitors will be able to see the YK1200X in action handling prismatic cells for electric vehicles in an application developed jointly with system integrator JP Industrieanlagen.

"Our demonstration shows how battery manufacturers can increase production, production quality and cost efficiency," commented Jumpei Ninomiya, Sales Manager for Yamaha's FA business in Europe. "This latest solution meets the critical needs of the market as the deadlines for key legislative changes for automotive production draw ever closer."

Two presentations with LCMR200 linear modules will show how production lines can move objects simultaneously in x, y and z directions as well as forwards and backwards, with parameters such as speed, acceleration and stop positions being easy to program. Operators can use this highly flexible transport system to overcome space constraints, increase factory flexibility and quickly scale and adapt production.

Looking ahead to the upcoming event, Jumpei Ninomiya added: "We will be presenting new and interesting demonstrations at Automatica this year. They will show how we can increase speed, efficiency and flexibility in many industries, such as automotive, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electronics assembly, general manufacturing, packaging and logistics."
