Cobot with vacuum

Piab enters the collaborative robot market with the Picobot, a plug-and-play extension of the Cobot arm with Piab's vacuum technology.

Picobot was developed for collaboration between humans and machines. It can be mounted at the end of any cobot arm and is a repackaged version of the Picomapct vacuum generator, combined with grippers that can be fitted with suction cups. © Piab

It can be mounted at the end of any cobot arm and is a repackaged version of the Picompact vacuum generator, combined with adjustable and flexible grippers that can be fitted with different suction cups. It is currently being certified by Universal Robots. The 97 to 142 millimetre wide gripper arms can be tilted by plus/minus 15 degrees, providing an excellent reach. The suction cups on the grippers function like the cobot's hands. "Properly configured with an integrated push pin, Picobot can emulate an index finger, for example, which can press a button or open a safety valve or latch," explains Josef Karbassi, Vice President of the Piab Automation Division.

However, the robot can also be quickly adapted to more robust tasks, such as gripping and packing sacks or lifting, moving and palletizing cardboard boxes. It can lift objects weighing up to seven kilograms. With an overall height of 69 millimetres, it is compact and can therefore also be used in confined areas and in narrow aisles or corners. as
