Three i's for 4.0

New Industry 4.0 software platform

Yaskawa is presenting its Industry 4.0 concept i³-Mechatronics at the Hannover Messe. This integrative approach includes products such as robots, drive and control technology, as well as specially developed software solutions. The backbone of the concept is the newly developed Yaskawa Cockpit software platform.

With the i³-Mechatronics solution concept, Yaskawa combines classic mechatronics, information and communication technology as well as digital solutions such as artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things. "i3" stands for integrated - intelligent - innovative.

Yaskawa Cockpit platform

Relevant process and system data converge directly in the new, central Yaskawa Cockpit software platform via standard interfaces such as OPC UA and HTTP. There they can be analyzed and clearly visualized. At the same time, the current status of each machine can be displayed in real time and correlated with other data sources, for example for coordinated predictive maintenance. The data can also be easily transferred to existing ERP, MES, big data or AI environments under the highest security standards to enable well-founded production-related decisions.

Industrial robots in Industry 4.0 environments

In the digital environment, Yaskawa will also be presenting current automation solutions with Motoman industrial robots at the Hannover Messe, for example in the form of a virtual welding gantry system that can be accessed with the aid of 3D glasses.

Another highlight will be two Motoman HC10s, which are equipped with HRC grippers and automatic screwdrivers in HRC design, assembling bottle openers in a show cell and handing them out as giveaways to visitors to the stand. These hybrid robots with a reach of 1.20 meters and a handling weight of ten kilograms can be used both as normal industrial robots and as collaborative robots. The system is controlled via a Vipa touch panel from Yaskawa and is equipped with special, new safety step mats. as
