Safety option

More safety, higher productivity

Robotics and the topic of safety are more topical than ever. Mitsubishi Electric offers various new relevant safety functions such as the Melfa-Safe-Plus II safety option. This allows the speed of the robot to be controlled independently on the individual working planes (x, y and z), so that cycle times can be increased and the working distance between humans and intelligent robots can be reduced.

This safety option also applies to the new Melfa FR robot series. The scope of safety I/O has been extended. Also worth mentioning with this Safe Plus II option is the ability to control the speed of the robot independently on the individual working levels. Equipped with the appropriate monitoring sensors, the robot can move at a safe speed in the approach direction while moving at an undiminished speed on the other levels. This allows man and machine to work together dynamically and more efficiently. If the overall system is supplemented with the connection of modern laser scanners and corresponding area definitions, the speed of an approaching person can be calculated and the duration of the safely reduced speed can be reduced. The safety levels are based on Mitsubishi's standard devices and can be retrofitted to existing robots. Melfa Safe Plus robots can also be equipped with a sensor skin (Melfa Safe Skin) to enable human-robot collaboration. pb
