Robots

The B1 is here

With the B1 Black Line robot, Autostore presents a technology for automated storage, transportation and picking systems. The B1 is compact and lightweight and, thanks to its cavity design, is almost half the size of the R5 from the Red Line.

The lift mechanism for the bins is now centrally positioned and high enough to carry the bins inside the robot chassis. Thanks to the higher robot chassis and the cavity design, the B1 can transport and handle higher bins up to 425 millimetres, and the B1 robots with direct drive motors on each wheel achieve higher travel speeds of up to four meters per second. The acceleration values have been increased by around 75 percent to 1.4 meters per square second, while the containers can be lifted at speeds of up to 2.5 meters per second. This gives each B1 an output of 30 double cycles per hour. Thanks to the direct drive, the system has fewer moving parts and operates quietly at 66 dB. Autostore has implemented a new battery concept with the Black Line.

The B1 has an automatically replaceable "battpack" with a lithium-ion battery and changes this completely autonomously in under a minute whenever it needs a fully charged battery pack. This means that the B1 robots can be used around the clock. With the introduction of the Black Line, Autostore is also establishing the Double Grid (DDG) with double rails in the X and Y directions as standard for the Red Line product line instead of the previously used Single-Double Grid. Autostore is also introducing a new goods-to-person workstation, the Black Line, especially for high throughput rates: This modular workstation consists of a pick module and several buffer modules. Each pick station can have three to six buffer modules. Both robots B1 and R5 can approach these delivery positions from any direction. With the new B1 robots, the DDG rail system that is now double in all directions, the new work stations (ports), the containers that are now available in three sizes and the modernized controller, the manufacturer now offers a new solution for higher throughput requirements with the Black Line. pb
