Freely programmable loader mechanism

Palletizing in a mix without retooling

Hirata has further developed its AST series palletizers. It is now possible to process pallets with the same size and the same outer contour, but different heights, in a mix without retooling.

For this purpose, the previous two-stage loader mechanism has been replaced by loader technology with a freely programmable NC axis. In addition, based on the AST basic design, a new device option is available that enables an alternating flow direction (from top to bottom or from bottom to top) in a palletizer. This option is useful when the palletizer is used as a buffer between interlinked production facilities. In this way, production fluctuations that can occur, for example, due to discontinuous production, malfunctions or changeover work in interlinked areas can be compensated for.

Typical applications for the compact tray changers in the AST series include the assembly of small parts and the palletizing of workpieces on plastic injection moulding and machine tools. They feed tray stacks in confined spaces, separate the trays, load or unload them and stack them again. The devices process tray sizes from 400 x 300 millimetres to 800 x 600 millimetres up to a stack weight of 200 kilograms.

The tray changers can be expanded into fully automated systems in conjunction with industrial trucks. In conjunction with a Scara robot or a linear axis system, the palletizer or depalletizer not only enables easy loading and unloading of pallets and trays, but also fast and precise assembly of components. The robot's multitasking-capable controller is generally used to control the palletizing functions. as
