Fanuc delivers 3,500 robots to BMW
Fanuc supplies around 3,500 robots for new BMW production lines and plants worldwide, including newly developed models tailored to BMW's requirements.
The robots are to be used in the production of current and future generations of BMW models. The first robots were installed at the end of 2019. Further robots will be used at BMW's German and international production sites in the coming years. "Winning this project is an important milestone for Fanuc as a strategic partner of the BMW Group," says Ralf Winkelmann, Managing Director of Fanuc Germany.
Various Fanuc robot models are used at BMW - including newly developed ones that have been tailored to the customer's individual requirements. The various robots are mainly used in body-in-white production and for manufacturing doors and hoods. In cooperation with manufacturers of hose packages and traversing axes, Fanuc rounds off the range of products supplied to BMW by providing peripheral components.
In total, Fanuc offers more than 100 available robot models for industrial use, including particularly powerful models such as the M-2000i, which can safely carry loads of up to 2.3 tons and move them flexibly via its six axes. According to the company, more than 600,000 Fanuc robots have already been installed worldwide. as
