Igus offers its low-cost robolink DP robot - consisting of high-performance plastics - in customized designs.
Robots are increasingly finding their way from industry into the retail sector. There they ensure fast automation of processes and are a real eye-catcher at the same time. Above all, users place high demands on design and reliability at an affordable price.
Shopping and ordering online is already part of everyday life. However, the new purchasing behavior is causing increasing competitive pressure on brick-and-mortar retailers. Intelligent automation systems for fast shopping are in demand, whether in supermarkets or furniture stores. Solutions can include juice vending machines, bread slicers or self-service checkouts with weighing technology.
Robots for retailers and restaurateurs
At the same time, retailers such as fashion houses and restaurateurs need to develop store and design concepts that offer customers a new experience. Robots are a popular choice, as they are not only eye-catching but also a practical automation solution. They can dispense prizes from competitions, mix cocktails or even top the pizza. Until now, this has been expensive fun that is rarely found in Germany. With its robolink DP, igus now offers a new, cost-effective solution directly from stock that customers can customize.
Last year, igus presented its robolink DP robot arm for the first time, which is largely made of plastic components. The customer now has the option of designing the robot arm with four or five axes in the desired design. Whether in the company's corporate design or as a barista robot in an elegant white look, the user can choose freely from the RAL color palette. The compact, lightweight robolink DP relies entirely on the advantages of igus motion plastics: lightweight, lubrication- and maintenance-free, low-noise, durable and cost-effective to manufacture. The articulated arm can be individually configured via the RBTX.com platform and, depending on the type of application, can also be equipped with grippers, cameras or sensors from a wide range of manufacturers. dsc
