Flexible automation with Plug and Produce

With mobile collaborative robot applications from Universal Robots, distribution partner Müller Maschinentechnik is presenting flexible automation solutions for modern metalworking at Metav 2018. Most of the accessories for the applications come from the Universal Robots+ online ecosystem.

"Visitors to our stand will see that 'plug-and-produce' is no longer just a vision. UR+ makes this possible by providing access to a growing number of grippers, sensors and other accessories that are guaranteed to be implemented via plug-and-play. This reduces the time and cost of installing automation solutions, making them a realistic option for small and medium-sized companies too," says Lothar Vandeberg, Sales Manager at Müller Maschinentechnik.

Among other things, Müller will be presenting a Bachmann FeedMaster equipped with a UR5 robot as well as a two-finger gripper and camera system from Robotiq, which allows the application to recognize and grip differently shaped parts. A Bachmann BasicFeeder with a pallet storage unit and a UR10 with a pneumatic gripper from PHD will also be on show. The example applications for loading and unloading CNC machines are characterized by their modular design: Mounted on a mobile platform, they can be moved as a multi-machine concept within a production facility and used on different machines.

Müller also shows what fully automated mobility looks like using the example of a MiR200 from Mobile Industrial Robots, on which a UR3 with an OnRobot RG2 gripper and a force-torque sensor from the manufacturer Optoforce is mounted: The autonomous mobile robot can move independently between different workstations where the robot arm performs its feeding tasks. as
