Palletizing robots from Fanuc

Palletizing in the tightest of spaces

The basic design of the new, four-axis palletizing robot M-410iC/110 from Fanuc is based on the successful M-410i model series. Due to its special kinematics, the four-axis robot is predestined for use in confined workspaces.

The new M-410iC/110 has a load capacity of 110 kilograms, a maximum horizontal reach of 2,403 millimetres and a maximum palletizing height of 2,238 millimetres. Fanuc points out the slim design, the efficient use of the available space and the high movement performance. In contrast to its big brothers, whose payloads reach up to 700 kilograms, a "smaller" working area is necessary to achieve the extremely high throughput of 2,200 cycles per hour. This makes this robot currently the fastest palletizing robot in its class. Tested in Fanuc's own test laboratory, the M-410iC/110 also withstands this load in 24/7 continuous operation.

The robot made its first public appearance at the EMO in Hanover with a palletizing application for cardboard boxes. The short distances of this application illustrate the high movement dynamics and performance of this robot. Conclusion of this exemplary setup: This robot is suitable both as an end-of-line palletizer and within a line - precisely because of its compactness - as a transfer unit, layer former or order picker.

"With this robot, we are enabling the introduction of new, extremely efficient palletizing performance into existing palletizing systems. This investment can quickly prove to be an advantage, especially for manufacturers who rely on high efficiency and flexibility in their production systems," says Thomas Schneider, Product Manager at Fanuc.

In addition to the robot hardware, the PC-based palletizing software Palletpro complements the application capability and usability in logistics areas. This plug-in, which is supported in the Roboguide simulation software, enables the offline creation of complicated layer diagrams away from the production area. Once the palletizing images have been created, the result can be loaded into the robot controller and applied.

With the robot and software package, Fanuc offers a cost-effective complete solution from a single source to make it as easy as possible for the system house and the end user to get started and for day-to-day operation. as
