Mini servo controller for robots
Maccon has introduced the Everest family of miniature servo controllers for brushless motors with outputs of up to five kilowatts. The new servo controller from Spanish manufacturer Ingenia measures 42 x 30 x 22 millimetres and weighs 20 grams.
It is designed for applications with limited installation space or requirements for low weight at temperatures between minus 40 and 85 degrees Celsius. Examples include robot joints, wearable robotics, autonomous intralogistics vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The high power density of up to five kilowatts is due to new GaN (gallium nitride) transistors. The high switching frequency of the GaN transistors also enables a higher efficiency than silicon transistors, which is an important requirement for battery-powered machines, according to the manufacturer. The Everest also includes a fully-fledged motion control unit (MCU), which allows machine builders to implement their own sequence control on the controller. The servo controller is distributed in Germany by Maccon. as
