Drive-in with robot

Contactless corona test

The company BoKa Automatisierung has developed a contactless solution for corona testing. Instead of medical professionals, a video system and a Fanuc robot are used to instruct tests and collect samples.

People with a suspected coronavirus infection drive up to the test station in their car. They are guided through the process by video instructions. At the beginning, each person scans their ID card and disinfects their hands, after which the personal data is assigned to a test tube with a barcode. The Fanuc robot scans the barcode and hands the test stick to the test person who performs the test. Finally, the robot picks up the used test tube - and stores it until it is transported to the laboratory. A six-axis Fanuc LR Mate 200iD/7L with a reach of 911 millimeters operates in the cell. The control system is housed under the worktable. If the prototype proves popular in the healthcare sector, contactless coronavirus testing could soon be in use. as
