Cobots and premieres

Universal Robots is kicking off Motek with a whole series of new products. In Stuttgart, the specialist for collaborative robotics is presenting an in-house innovation and several peripheral products from its UR+ partners.

"Visitors can look forward to special premieres. Our cobots will be stronger and more diverse than ever," says Helmut Schmid, Managing Director of Universal Robots (Germany) and General Manager Western Europe. No more was revealed in the run-up to the trade fair.

Peripheral products from UR+ partners
The HRC-03 electric HRC gripper from Zimmer celebrates its world premiere on a UR3e. A special feature of the two-jaw parallel gripper: a free drive button directly on the tool. It allows the operator to have both hands free to guide the cobot.

The new Gecomer technology from the young company Innocise uses a UR3e to illustrate how nature inspires manufacturers of robotic components. Objects adhere to a hairy, finely structured surface - similar to a gecko's foot.

Universal Robots will be using another UR3e to demonstrate how to reach into the box. An O3D 3D camera from ifm recognizes the size and position of objects and enables the cobot to see. The UR3e then picks up the unsorted parts using the compact Cobotpump Mini-ECBPi from Schmalz.

Equipped with an FDB-300 deburring spindle from Schunk, a UR5e provides insights into sheet metal and metal processing with cobots. Robot-assisted deburring marks the trend towards increasingly automating dangerous activities in the process chain to protect employees.

A UR10e demonstrates the sensitivity and precision of the e-Series with integrated force/torque sensor on a car door. It attaches a door sound insulation with an individually developed roller attachment. The exhibit is based on a real application from a German car manufacturer, where cobots relieve employees of the ergonomically unfavorable task.

Carried by a MiR200 transport robot from Mobile Industrial Robots, a UR5e also moves through the rows of visitors at the trade fair stand. A qb Softhand Industry from qb robotics mounted on it hands out bottles of water. The playful application refers to the increasingly popular combination of cobot and mobile platform for highly flexible work - for example for order picking. as
