Battery systems for fully electric vehicles in the premium segment are to be produced at this production facility from 2021.

In addition to the demanding process steps required for assembly, the high capacity and technical availability, the quality requirements and the systematic recording of all relevant process data are particular challenges for this production line.

Kuka uses fifty industrial robots in the line: from feeding, cleaning and measuring the battery frames, checking the battery modules to be installed, applying thermal paste, joining and screwing the individual modules in the battery frame, electrical contacting, sealing and screwing on the housing cover, to leak testing and quality control at the end of the line.

"Electromobility is an absolute future market worldwide," said Peter Mohnen, CEO of Kuka. "We are proud that Kuka's extensive expertise and experience in the automation of battery production is convincing here and that we can support our customers in the automotive industry in making e-mobility a reality." as
