Automation in the field of tension of Industry 4.0

Yaskawa presents new developments in drive technology and robotics that stand for easy programmability. The GA500 frequency inverter has its world premiere and the "Yaskawa Cockpit" will be available from summer 2019 as an enhanced "Edition 1".

The new GA500 development expands the current generation of frequency inverters with a particularly compact model for industrial applications: The handy inverter offers 800 parameters and therefore a comprehensive portfolio of functions for the optimum solution to almost any drive task. Despite this variety, it can be parameterized in five minutes by answering simple questions. In industrial production, the easy handling not only greatly simplifies the commissioning process, but also significantly shortens it. The GA500 is also suitable for all types of motor, including permanent magnet motors.

A project class from the Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Schule (HDG) in Wachtberg near Bonn will be demonstrating live at the Yaskawa trade fair stand what simple programming and operation mean in relation to industrial robots, especially in light of the current digital pact. With the "hdg robotic 4.0" project supported by Yaskawa, the "Profiled Community Secondary School" is breaking new ground in teaching digitalization and technology skills: The extra-curricular offer makes students in grades 7 to 9 fit for digitalization and teaches key skills in programming and controlling microcontrollers and robots.

The i3 mechatronics solution "Yaskawa Cockpit", which was presented for the first time at the last Hannover Messe, will be back in 2019, as the software will be available to customers as an enhanced "Edition 1" from summer 2019. This platform can be used to record data from components, robots or entire systems, including third-party products, in real time and display and evaluate the information generated in a visually appealing, comprehensible and meaningful way.

The fact that robotics is of particular importance in the course of simple and flexible automation is demonstrated by Yaskawa with a large number of robotics exhibits. Solutions ranging from machine tending to collaborative robots - some mobile on an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) - to a gallery of planned models from Yaskawa's first European robot production will be presented. Visitors can also look forward to seeing a prototype of the new and larger Motoman HC20 collaborative robot.

Yaskawa's Environmental Energy Division (EED), which specializes in wind, marine and industrial turbo applications, is presenting a new turbo electric motor for power ranges between 100 and 600 kilowatts. Unlike comparable drives, this new development achieves the required high speeds of 6,000 to 20,000 rpm without an additional gearbox. Compared to conventional solutions with gearboxes, this results in decisive advantages in terms of compactness and durability: the gearless turbo motor requires 50 percent less space and is also significantly less maintenance-intensive because it consists of fewer components. as
