Unloading trucks, taking care of warehouse logistics or transporting products from A to B to assist humans and make their work easier: the use of robots in logistics is becoming more and more widespread - and there is no end in sight to this boom. Quite the opposite: in the future, robots will take over more and more activities in warehouses. Jason Gao, Marketing Director at Geek+, summarizes the reasons behind this development:

Labor shortage
Like so many industries, logistics companies are also feeling the effects of the shortage of labor and skilled workers. Alternative solutions must therefore be found. One trend that is emerging is the intelligent automation of logistics processes in warehouses. As a result, the use of robots is almost becoming a matter of course, as they can be used flexibly and at any time and can therefore easily replace human labor in certain areas.

Cost pressure
In an industry such as logistics, which is characterized by competition and price pressure, time- and cost-efficient handling of work processes has become a business-critical factor. Compared to employees, robots can be used flexibly and scalably - and the company's investment pays for itself in the short to medium term. Robots also support employees in their daily work and can help to prevent overload. Cobots also ensure that work capacity is freed up for complex and strategic tasks.

Speed
With the advent of e-commerce and the increasing demands of customers, for example in terms of delivery times, work processes in logistics must also be optimized in terms of speed. This is because ever more intelligent and faster systems are required to ensure customer satisfaction and meet increased customer demands. However, human workers alone can no longer cope with this required development and optimization step. With AI-based, assistive robots, on the other hand, companies can ensure that they will be able to meet the demands of the future. as
