It runs along the line
Fully automatic reach into the box. With Intellipick 3D, a new generation of sensors with a range of additional functions follows on from the Shapescan 3D robot vision product series. The new product family is designed to ensure uninterrupted supply to the production line.
Industrial production environments put image processing sensors to the test in many ways. Incident ambient light, confined spaces, changing components and container shapes as well as short cycle times are some of the common challenges. The properties of the new Intellipick sensor family for fully automatic "reaching into the box" are specially designed to meet the challenges of production lines. Robust and resistant to interference, the new generation of sensors is designed to guarantee maximum system availability and an uninterrupted supply to the production line, Isra Vision announced.
Foreign objects are recognized
Each system learns new part shapes and even complex object geometries quickly and easily using CAD data. This allows an almost unlimited range of detectable components. The sensors can be operated via an intuitive user interface, even without expert knowledge or previous experience. Integrated plausibility checks monitor the correct input. Its eye-safe multi-line laser illumination enables a detailed image with a high depth of field, regardless of the distance between the sensor and the container. Objects are reliably detected even on dirty or shiny surfaces. New system features and short computing times provide important time advantages: For example, the new detection software recognizes when foreign objects have gotten under the parts to be picked up. The process continues without interruption and valuable time is saved.
Thanks to a software extension, the system also tolerates different container positions and types. The "Fast Collision Check" allows several components to be gripped one after the other without a further scan. The company claims a return on investment for the systems in less than a year. Standardized system components minimize maintenance costs.
Place components in the container
A completely new application of Intellipick's CAD-based 3D point cloud recognition now makes it possible to place components in a container using a robot gripper. Users thus ensure a robust automatic loading process. The sorting robot becomes more flexible as irritations caused by changes such as slipped parts are minimized. This prevents necessary interruptions for manual intervention. With this additional application option, the full technological potential of the Intellipick is available for efficient processes along the production line. In practice, users effectively save time and costs at both ends of their production chain and in other gripping processes in production. The "Fast Collision Check" also makes it possible to place several parts in succession for pick-and-place tasks.
Access for different component sizes
Thanks to their slim design, the Intellipick sensors also fit into confined spaces. Available in different sizes, the 3D systems enable unsorted components of various object dimensions, from small to large and bulky, to be reliably picked from containers. The Intellipick family will offer the Minipick system for particularly small objects. Minipick expands the standard equipment of the series from two stereometric cameras to four in order to reliably capture even the smallest parts in the entire volume of the container.
All Intellipick sensors are delivered pre-calibrated, automatic calibration of sensor and robot as well as simple user guidance during the set-up process speed up commissioning. The systems support all standard communication interfaces and are easy to install in any environment thanks to their flexible mounting system, the manufacturer promises. With this flexibility and the new options, the Intellipick range is now set to guarantee a more robust and versatile grip on the box for a variety of different industries. As part of the "Touch & Automate" portfolio, the sensors are equipped with WLAN and are therefore equipped for the future of industrial production and Industry 4.0. as
