Mapal has built a prestigious administration building in Fountain, USA, over the past twelve months. In addition to new offices, the new building also houses a test center for the aviation sector and a showroom. The total usable area of the plant has increased by over 1,000 m² to 2,250 m². The tool specialist has invested a total of around 3.6 million euros in the site. This includes the expansion of the production facilities. Around 30 new jobs have also been created.

Mapal has been operating a branch in South Carolina since 2012. It is Mapal USA's second production site alongside the headquarters in Port Huron, Michigan. The tool specialist employs around 250 people nationwide in America. America is an important market for the Aalen-based company and therefore the coverage is significant. "It is important for us to have regional bases in both the north and south of the USA in order to guarantee consistent support for our customers," says Dr. Jochen Kress, Managing Partner.

The plant in Fountain Inn will act as a regional center for the local automotive and aerospace industries. "It will also be a hub for the production of solid carbide tools for North, Central and South America," explains Kress. The new capacities will enable greater flexibility and leaner processes: "By being close to our customers and producing on site, we save time and minimize our response times. The development of individual machining solutions can be carried out locally and in close coordination with the users," continues Kress.
