Saint-Gobain Abrasives
New Managing Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland
Christian Bako is the new Managing Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at abrasives expert Saint-Gobain Abrasives. Bako succeeds Dirk Borgmann, who is taking on a new role in Saint-Gobain's building products division.
Christian Bako, who holds a degree in business administration, previously worked for three years in the construction glass division of the Saint-Gobain Group, most recently as Managing Director of the Glassolutions regional market in Germany.
The 38-year-old's move to Saint-Gobain Abrasives comes at an extremely difficult time: daily routines and processes have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. These are not easy conditions for taking on his new role, but Bako is optimistic: "I've met a highly motivated and well-coordinated team over the past few weeks. Together, we have mastered this challenging situation excellently so far and have been able to successfully implement our two top priorities, protecting our employees on the one hand and ensuring that our customers are looked after on the other. This makes me extremely positive for the future and for the time after Corona, when we can work 'normally' again and push ahead with the development and market-driven implementation of our sanding solutions."
Christian Bako believes the company is well positioned for the future and wants to further exploit the existing potential: "As a leading company, we offer a unique range of solutions in terms of breadth and depth. Together with my team, I will continue to work on placing customer benefit at the center of all decisions and thus focus on the topics that deliver real added value for our customers."
