Takeover
Chiron buys Mecatis
On August 1, the Chiron Group acquired Mecatis, a manufacturer of small, high-precision machining centers.
The Chiron Group has acquired Mecatis, a manufacturer of machining centers for the high-speed machining of microtechnical components. The company, based in Isérables in the canton of Valais in Switzerland, launched the Micro5 4- or 5-axis machining center under the Factory5 brand in 2017. All Factory5 products are marketed digitally via the platform www.factory5.tech
The acquisition expands Chiron's product portfolio. Dr. Claus Eppler, Managing Director R&D at Chiron: "The high-precision machining centers from Factory5 perfectly complement the Chiron product range below the 08 series. They strengthen our offering for the precision and medical technology sectors. This means we can now meet the requirements of many customers for compact, highly dynamic machines for small components."
In future, Factory5 machining centers will be distributed worldwide by the Chiron Group. The Group's service network will also be available to Factory5 customers.
With the takeover, the Chiron Group now has its own companies in ten countries in addition to Germany. All Mecatis employees will be transferred to the future Chiron Swiss SA and will continue to manage the Factory5 brand products. The managing director is Mecatis owner and CEO Samuel Vuadens.
