5-axis machining centers

Three machines, two concepts

Hedelius, manufacturer of machining centers with rotary swivel table and swiveling main spindle, is presenting the three 5-axis machining centers Acura 65, T6-2300 and T7-2600 at Metav.

5-axis machining centers

The two T machines belong to the Tiltenta family, a machine concept with a swiveling main spindle that is designed for machining heavy cubic workpieces and long components. The T6-2300 has travels of 2,300 x 650 x 695 mm (x/y/z) and a 26- or 40-station tool magazine. The tool capacity can be extended by a standby magazine with up to 190 additional pockets. Main spindles with up to 18,000 rpmare available for high-performance machining. With a clamping weight of 2,000 kg, the table load is also designed for machining large and heavy workpieces.

The T7-2600 offers the same spindle performance as the smaller T6-2300, but with larger travels of 2,600 x 750 x 695 mm (x/y/z). The tool magazine is also larger. The standard version has 33 tools, the Magnum version has 50, which can also be supplemented by a standby magazine. Workpieces weighing up to 2,500 kg can be clamped on the fixed table. A work area partition wall enables pendulum machining and set-up parallel to machining time.

The Acura 65, on the other hand, represents a different concept of 5-axis machining: the focus is on the rotary/tilt table. The machine has travels of 700 x 650 x 600 mm (x/y/z) with a footprint of just 2,685 x 2,850 mm. The 65-slot tool magazine, which can be loaded from the front during machining, can also be extended. The hydraulically clamped rotary/swivel table with bearings on both sides is designed for high-precision machining of small workpieces. A powerful spindle with up to 18,000 rpmis also available for this model.

Both machine concepts have a low machine table height, adapted to the ergonomics of the operator, as well as a large viewing window for set-up and inspection work. The work areas of both series are fully enclosed and yet still fully accessible for crane loading thanks to the large sliding door. Vertical stainless steel slats and generous chip clearances create a clean working environment. The chip conveyor can also be pulled out to the front on both machines to save space. cs
