The U 400 and U 600 models have a gantry design, while the company opted for a gantry design for the U 800. In addition to the design, the differences between the machines lie in the size of their rotary tables and the maximum table loads. The U 800 is also driven by torque motors on the A and C axes.

Like all Takumi machines, the U series is also equipped with a Heidenhain control system. It allows dialog, parallel and free contour programming as well as ISO NC programming.

Takumi has been part of the Hurco Group since 2016.
