Electric chain hoists
Safely across the gangway with Kito
The gangways must be positioned safely so that passengers and staff can board cruise ships. At TUI, an electric chain hoist from Kito handles this task.
As on every cruise ship, access to the TUI Cruises fleet is only possible via gangways - the stairs or walkways that serve as entrances. This makes it all the more important that all gangways are positioned safely for passengers and crew. On the cruise ship "Mein Schiff 3", Kito takes care of this transportation work.
The ship has been in operation since 2014 and can accommodate over 2,500 passengers and around 1,000 staff. This means that the bridges for the passengers and staff have to be lifted, transported and positioned safely and precisely both during embarkation and after each shore leave.
EQ electric chain hoists are responsible for this - small and powerful hoists from the Kito portfolio. The EQ is compact but powerful. Thanks to the eyelet suspension or the robust top hook, the EQ can be easily suspended exactly where it is needed. A great advantage when space is limited on the deck of a ship. When in use, the chain hoist can handle loads of 125 to 1,000 kilograms.
A load control and safety features are part of the EQ's equipment. The electric chain hoist comes with a frequency inverter for precise load positioning, overload protection, an operating hours counter and a cylinder anchor brake as standard.
Kito also draws attention to the load chain that is used in all chain hoists. Kito is the only manufacturer in the world to sell nickel-coated load chains with the highest quality standards. Extraordinary strength is achieved through the special heating process. As a result, the load chain not only has a high-strength surface that safely transports the gangway without passengers or crew having to worry. It also defies all weather conditions with high corrosion resistance - whether on land or at sea. as
