Duraflex friction suction cups
Piab: New size for flat bellows suction cups
Piab is expanding its range of applications for flat friction bellows suction cups to include a suction cup with a diameter of 60 millimeters.
With the suction cup, the company aims to close the gap in its range of Duraflex friction suction cups. The new size BFFT60P-2 is available with ten different friction suction cup attachments.
The design of the flat Friction Bellows Suction Cups (BFFT) is suitable for very thin sheets (0.6 to 0.8 millimeters) to avoid pressure points. This new competitive suction cup has an improved bellows (stiffer) and improved dimensions (height, diameter and stroke), making it ideal for general automotive applications. The BFFT60P-2 is suitable for flat and uneven/curved surfaces, or where leveling is required, for example in de-stacking applications. It is also designed for handling exterior car body parts in a compression molding process.
The suction cup and the inner support are made of Duraflex, a material specially manufactured by Piab and characterized by the elasticity of rubber and the wear resistance of polyurethane. Duraflex suction cups ensure stability and a good grip regardless of orientation. The material leaves no marks on the handled objects and has a fantastic shape memory.
The refined internal friction pattern provides additional grip. The suction cups can withstand high shear forces, typically three to five times more than comparable conventional suction cups. The BFFT60P-2 works best when press oil is used on a metal sheet. However, this suction cup is also a good choice for dry sheet metal, corrugated cardboard, wood, glass and objects that require a very clean surface (mark-free). as
