When the beat rises
With Flexspeed, Afag Automation has developed a handling system that is both fast and precise. It is used in the packaging industry, for example, where high cycle time requirements prevail.
The system is also ideal for demanding tasks in assembly automation, says the manufacturer. The handling system is based on the PDL40 horizontal gantry axis from Afag. With simple active cooling and an optimized heat sink, it provides the right conditions for all processes. It is joined by the ES20-100-SL vertical axis. Both are driven by a linear motor. They can perform different movements simultaneously and also assume different positions.
The peak force of the portal axis is 550 Newtons, that of the vertical axis 137 Newtons. Flexspeed is particularly suitable for flexible applications in which different positions or programs and variable sequences have to be run with short cycle times. The Flexspeed performs the classic C-cycle with a horizontal stroke of 170 millimetres and a vertical stroke of 20 millimetres with a gripping time of 50 milliseconds and a cycle time of just 450 milliseconds. pb
