Portals from the modular system

Gripping, lifting, positioning, setting down: The basic work process in pick-and-place applications is always the same. However, the requirements that system manufacturers and their customers place on drives and grippers differ. SMC offers various solutions for individual applications with freely configurable modules for handling portals.

Tailor-made for every application: The handling gantries can be freely assembled according to the modular principle and meet demanding requirements in assembly automation, measurement and testing applications or in the laboratory, for example. © SMC Germany

Using electric drives and standardized connecting elements, the company works with customers to develop tailor-made handling gantries that only need to be assembled on site - whether line, area or room gantries including electric or pneumatic grippers for handling tasks.

Various electric drive types are available based on SMC's 24-volt DC stepper motor technology with actual position detection. Electric cylinders with guide rod from the LEYG series with parallel or axially mounted motors are particularly suitable for push applications. The carriage drives from the LEFS and LEFB series, which are driven by ball screws or belts, are used for picking up and moving parts. The drives are controlled by pre-configured motor controllers that control up to four axes synchronously and are compatible with all common communication protocols. pb
