Gripper
Mechatronics with IO-Link
At SPS IPC Drives, Schunk is expanding its gripper portfolio with power-dense mechatronic grippers that can be parameterized and controlled directly via IO-Link or Profinet.
Both the PGN-plus-E universal gripper and the EGP small parts gripper will be included in the catalog range with IO-Link as standard at the start of 2019. Compared to the previous use of binary-switching or analogue sensors and actuators, both parameterization and diagnostic data can now be transmitted to and from the gripper via the digital point-to-point connection. This reduces the wiring effort and the number of interface and connector variants in the system. Both grippers require neither space in the control cabinet nor an external control unit and are therefore suitable for a simple changeover from pneumatic to mechatronic gripping, says Schunk.
A second focus is on the EGL intelligent gripper with Profinet interface. With the world's first Profinet universal gripper certified in the highest category C, users can measure and identify process-integrated components and monitor the ongoing production process. The gripper itself detects a faulty component and decides whether the part should be ejected from the process. as
