Gimatic develops 4.0 hand change system

Gimatic has further developed its simple SQ manual changing system and made it suitable for Industry 4.0 robotics. The robot-side base plate is now available in a version with a secure locking mechanism that is sensor-supported.

According to the manufacturer, the interchangeable system, which has already proven itself in the previous version, is based on simple base plates in the sizes 100 x 100, 150 x 150 and 250 x 250 millimetres. The base plate on the robot side is compatible with all existing base plates on the gripper side. An integrated wedge mechanism ensures that the plate on the gripper side is loaded over its entire surface and thus fixed in the exact position. Angular errors on the robot gripper are therefore ruled out. The square quick changer can be operated with just one handle.

The locking mechanism is form-fit and is interrogated by a sensor. The sensor query is used to detect that the gripper system is securely seated - an important feature for Industry 4.0 applications. as
