Compact version of the Gecko gripper

With the single-pad Gecko gripper, Onrobot has launched a compact version of its Gecko gripper onto the market. It is space-saving, lightweight and designed for three different payloads.

The special holding technology is based on the way gecko feet work. In contrast to conventional vacuum grippers, it also allows automated handling of perforated workpieces such as drilled circuit boards. The gripper is available in the SP1, SP3 and SP5 versions, which are named after their respective load capacity in kilograms. The gripping technology is modeled on the way geckos climb. It works with millions of microscopic hairs that are located on the gripping surfaces. When pressed onto a flat object, they generate adhesion through Van der Waals forces. This has the advantage that the respective gripper requires neither force nor energy, and the gecko grippers leave no marks. as
