Magnetic gripper for round cells
Know-how-Factory Zimmer presents the HM1046 magnetic gripper for round cells.
Gripping round cells in the production of electric vehicles is a particular challenge. The round cells must be gathered in the process, i.e. brought as close together as possible, in order to make optimum use of the limited installation space in the vehicle. This is only possible if the gripper is located in the shadow of the battery. This process-relevant design was implemented and combined with a holding force of 50 newtons, which ensures that the round cells are held securely even at high accelerations and emergency stops.
Reliable filing
The low residual holding force of less than one Newton when the magnets are deactivated enables reliable depositing and meets the requirements for technical cleanliness. The focus is on the modular concept so that the gripper can be optimally adapted to the respective process.
The gripper can be combined with both piston position sensing and battery presence detection. Axis compensators are available which, in conjunction with centering plates, compensate for the misalignments of the cells that occur in the various manufacturing processes.
Option of vacuum-assisted gripping
In addition to this combination, the HM1046 is the only magnetic gripper on the market that also offers the option of vacuum-assisted gripping. This combination of two redundant gripping principles generates holding forces of up to 200 newtons and increases process reliability to a maximum.
Zimmer Group solutions do not end with the individual gripper. The modular concept is continued; the company also offers ready-to-install systems that reliably cover all processes in this sensitive production.
