Brush plates: Gentle support for sensitive metal sheets
The brush plates from Kullen-Koti are part of the basic equipment of many different machines and systems in sheet metal processing. They enable the gentle handling of large metal sheets and support their precise fixing.
At Euroblech in Hanover, the manufacturer will be providing information on the technical scope of its current range of brush plates. It will also be presenting its successful Quick Chain System and showing examples of solutions from its wide range of brush strips.
The brush plates from Kullen-Koti are used as components of the clamping and fixing systems of sheet metal processing machines. While the laser cutting or punching heads of the machine tools are guided to the steel, stainless steel, copper or aluminum sheets from above, the brush plates ensure the precise positioning and surface-friendly positioning of the often very thin sheets from below.
Depending on the application and material, however, a number of technical issues need to be considered when selecting suitable brush plates: How stable must the fill be? How high, dense or light should the fill be? How much or how little frictional resistance is acceptable? What thermal or mechanical loads are the carrier plate and brush fill exposed to? The engineering specialists from Kullen-Koti will be answering these and many other questions at Euroblech in Hanover. Visitors to the trade fair will also be able to take a closer look at different variants of brush plates and gain an impression of other brush products that are frequently used in sheet metal processing. For example, the Quick Chain System and the brush strips, which are available in many different versions.
Load-bearing and heat-resistant
Kullen-Koti offers its brush plates with load-bearing capacities of up to 500, 1,250 and 2,000 kg/m2 as standard. The specific weight and the size of the metal sheets to be picked up are relevant factors in making the right choice. The manufacturer also offers a wide range of options when searching for the optimum covering. Plastic fibers, heat-resistant and flame-retardant special fibers or even fine wires are frequently used. Even if noise reduction is a priority or particularly sensitive sheet metal surfaces need to be taken into account, there is a suitable solution in the trim portfolio. It should also be remembered that compared to other systems, brush plates offer a weight advantage that enables higher travel speeds and lower drive power for the systems. In this respect, brush plates are also an important component for the implementation of energy-efficient lightweight constructions in mechanical and plant engineering.
The format and dimensions of the brush plates can be individually adapted to the customer's machine design. The standard dimensions range up to an impressive 2,500 x 1,200 mm, but according to the company, there is almost no limit here. Larger areas are created by combining several brush plate modules, and curved shapes, circular cut-outs and other special geometries can also be realized for seamless connection to conveyor lines.
Lead, encourage, support ...
Visitors to Kullen-Koti's Euroblech stand will also learn that the brush plates are not only installed directly in the clamping and fixing systems of sheet metal processing machines, but also fulfill many other functions. These include, above all, guiding, transporting and pressing, as well as supporting and depositing. The brush plates even prove their worth when cleaning and washing sheet metal panels. However, many of these applications are also among the primary tasks of the brush strips that the company is also presenting in Hanover. They are available in a wide range of variants and are used wherever sensitive workpieces or finished products need to be gently guided, conveyed or stored. They are also very easy to replace, which is why this type of brush is also ideal for wear-intensive applications.
Another highlight Kullen-Koti will be showcasing at Euroblech is its successful Quick Chain System. This flexible brush belt solution is suitable for a wide range of very different tasks. The 100 mm or 200 mm wide link elements make it very easy to assemble vertically and horizontally movable brush belts that can be used for the automated conveying, guiding, sorting or turning of components, depending on the load. The Quick Chain System can also be used to create roller-like brushes - for chip removal, for example - or very wide and driven conveyor belts for large-format metal sheets.
