Stainless steel control cabinet

Further developed for extreme applications

The new VX25 large enclosure system from Rittal offers efficient engineering, fast assembly and a high level of safety. The VX25 is now also available in a stainless steel and NEMA 4X version. This means it meets the highest requirements for corrosion protection and protection against dust, spray and water jets.

In addition to the frame, doors, flat parts and base plate, Rittal has also designed all external parts such as 180° hinges and comfort handle variants in stainless steel in the stainless steel version.

While the enclosure type in both sheet steel and stainless steel has protection class IP 55 and protection class NEMA 12 as standard, the optional NEMA 4X version offers increased protection with IP 66. This means that electrical and electronic equipment in the VX25 is reliably protected against dust, spray and water jets, even under demanding conditions.

In order to achieve the NEMA 4X degree of protection, the enclosure had to undergo a water jet test, among other things. The test procedure, in which all gaps with seals were tested for leaks using a water jet with a flow rate of over 240 l/min and a test time of 40 min/30 s (6 mm/s per seal length), confirmed that no water can penetrate the enclosure under comparable conditions. The test procedure also includes a test of dust protection, corrosion resistance and protection against damage caused by external ice formation.

Thanks to the almost identical design of the two VX25 enclosure types, the engineering of the interior can be transferred 1:1 from the stainless steel enclosures to the NEMA 4X enclosures. This allows plant manufacturers to save time and costs during engineering.

If VX25 stainless steel enclosures are also to be equipped with energy-efficient cooling unit technology for use in demanding environments, the new Blue e+ cooling units are now also available in stainless steel.
