In 2015,Phoenix Contact set a new standard in the market for slimline safety relays with its PSRmini product portfolio. To this end, the company developed and produced the positively driven elementary relay NSR, one of the most compact relays of its kind on the market. In order to achieve this degree of miniaturization in the NSR, innovative methods and technologies were developed both in product development and for the production processes. The high number of resulting patents illustrates how great the technological leap required was.

TE Connectivity is expanding its portfolio for positively driven elementary relays and will acquire the "NSR" technology and take over the production and marketing of the elementary relay. Ulrich Leidecker, Member of the Management Board of Phoenix Contact and President of the Business
Area Industry Management and Automation (IMA): "With TE Connectivity, we have found the right partner to lay the foundations for successful global marketing of the NSR. TE Connectivity's expertise in engineering, production and distribution will take the marketing of NSR technology to a new level and open up new markets. We look forward to expanding this long-term partnership, which is a key element of our safety relay strategy."

"As the industry shifts more and more toward automation technology, operator safety has become one of the most important issues facing our customers today," said Vish Ananthan, senior vice president and general manager of TE's industrial business. "When people are involved, equipment must run without compromising functional safety, even at peak availability. The expansion of the NSR product line underscores our commitment to this critical mission and the much-needed space savings our customers require as they manage the dramatic increase in signal, power and data in the modern manufacturing environment."
