Solutions for industrial communication

With the Etherline T1 product family, Lapp provided prototypes of single-pair Ethernet cables for use in industrial machines and systems at a very early stage. It enables more consistent and economical industrial Ethernet networks and only requires one pair of wires to transmit data. The first Single Pair Ethernet cable is now available from stock. In its spring launch, Lapp is presenting the Etherline T1 Y Flex 1x2x22/7 AWG. This is a UL-certified, 2-core data cable for fast information exchange with consistently high data rates and a significantly reduced structure. Thanks to small bending radii and a small outer diameter, it is particularly weight- and space-saving and easy to install.

The new Power-over-Data-Line-capable cable in accordance with IEEE 802.3bu was specially designed for transmitting digital signals in the frequency range up to 600 MHz and up to 40 m away. It enables the simultaneous power and data supply of SPE end devices with low energy requirements (up to 50 W). The design of the SPE cable guarantees protection against electromagnetic interference. Thanks to an aluminum-laminated foil and copper braided shield with a high degree of coverage (SF/UTP), it is double-shielded. In addition, the PVC outer sheath is resistant to acids and alkalis and conditionally oil-resistant. UL/CSA certification allows the product to be used in North America.

There are also highly flexible Etherline FD Cat.6 patch cables for permanent use in the drag chain. They are assembled with M12X connectors and allow fast data exchange at up to 10 Gbit/s over 60 m thanks to Ethernet according to Cat.6. They are protected against electromagnetic interference by an aluminum-laminated foil and a copper shielding braid. A separating cross is used to protect the wire pairs, enabling maximum mechanical stress. The connector has an integrated vibration protection.

Another new product is the Etherline Cabinet CAT.6A for the control cabinet in Profinet networks. The flexible Cat.6A patch cables are particularly useful in tight spaces due to their small bending radii. They enable fast information exchange at up to 10 Gbit/s over 60 m. The double-ended connection cable saves time and eliminates the potential for errors when assembling on site. The RJ45 connector is particularly narrow, making the patch cables ideal for devices with a high port density. Thanks to UL/CSA certification, they are also approved for the North American market.

If cables are laid outdoors, they should also be UV-resistant. Lapp now has four PVC cables for data and signal transmission in the low-frequency range with a black outer sheath (BK) in its portfolio. This makes them suitable for outdoor use in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4892-2.

For example, Unitronic LiYY BK, the classic cable for data and signal transmission, is available in black. The compact design enables small outer diameters despite a high number of cores. The classified fire behavior properties are defined in accordance with EU Directive 305/2011 (BauPVO/CPR). This means that the black Unitronic can be used universally at machine interfaces for many applications for data and signal transmission in the low-frequency range. For example, for computer systems, electronic control and regulation devices, office machines or scales. It is suitable for fixed installation or for light mechanical stress and can be used in both dry and damp environments.

For outdoor applications, Lapp also has the new twisted pair variant Unitronic LiYY (TP) BK in its portfolio. Thanks to the twisted pair (TP) with short lay lengths, the conductor circuits are well decoupled. There is also the shielded Unitronic LiYCY BK. Its copper shielding braid with a high degree of coverage protects against capacitive interference from electric fields. It is supplemented by the twisted-pair shielded variant Unitronic LiYCY (TP) BK.

The H07V-U single core with HAR type certification in accordance with EN 50525-2-31 is now available as a 100-metre ring. The compact single core with solid conductor is available in various colors and can be used in a variety of ways in building technology and control cabinet construction. The longer ring length saves electricians walking distances. Combined with the Tronic module and the Tronic single conductor trolley, the single conductor can be cut to length in a controlled manner and stored compactly.

The Ölflex Plug 540 P is also new. This is a connection assembly with the Ölflex 540 P cable for device and control cabinet construction. The ready-made connection assembly saves time during installation and offers a cable with multiple durability, compatibility with various connector systems and third-party certification. Depending on the number of cores, conductor cross-section and connector type, there are different areas of application. The 3-core variants with protection class IP 44 are even suitable for outdoor use in Europe and may be exposed to rain.

The metric, liquid-tight Silvyn FPAD-M conduit fitting already has integrated cable strain relief. It remains reliably closed thanks to a locking device. Thanks to the robust polyamide, it is highly oil-resistant and mechanically resilient. The Silvyn FPAD-M is available in various metric sizes and two protection classes (IP 66 or IP 68) and can be supplemented with the Silvyn FPAS and Silvyn HCC protective conduits.

Lapp has the Skintop MS-M 40x1.5 Plus in its portfolio for assembling a cable with a rectangular connector housing. Thanks to the M40 external thread, it can be screwed onto tried-and-tested M40 standard grommet housings. Thanks to the extended M50 clamping range (27-35 mm), cables with a larger diameter (> 28 mm) can now also be fed through. Expensive special housings are not necessary. This is particularly advantageous for applications with limited space. The new cable gland enables sealing to protection class IP 68 and IP 69, withstands high mechanical and chemical loads and is even suitable for outdoor use.

New for the rail industry

Lapp is strategically expanding its portfolio for the rail industry. The single-core cable Ölflex Train 331 600 V for rail vehicles is now also available in additional dimensions (0.5 + 0.75 mm²) and in additional colors (BN, GN, YE, WH, GY, OG, VT). All items are classified in accordance with DIN EN 45545-2 and, thanks to the high-quality electron-beam cross-linked insulating materials, are also suitable for wiring machine-internal circuits and lights, for wiring inside control cabinets and even for in-house electrical installations.
