Inrush current limiter
For installation on the top-hat rail
Schukat has added the ESB303.LED.200/400 inrush current limiter from Camtec Power Supplies to its range. It is used to limit high inrush currents for capacitive loads.
It is used, for example, when operating several switched-mode power supply units or LED drivers on one automatic circuit breaker. Users only need one device version for standard building installations, as the inrush current limiter combines two devices in one top-hat rail device. It is suitable for operation both as a 3-channel ESB in single-phase 230VAC networks and as a 3-phase limiter in 400VAC networks that have a neutral conductor (required for the internal power supply of the ESB303).
Operation in 3-phase 200VAC networks with N conductor is also covered. The ESB303 allows the device to be permanently loaded with 16 A per channel, whereby the original inrush currents of the connected loads have no limit. The limiter is designed to protect a B13 circuit breaker from high inrush currents and prevent it from tripping. To this end, each channel is limited individually and independently of the others in order to correctly detect a voltage dip in just one channel in a 3-phase system.
A load capacity of 6000 µF per channel can be connected to the device, which has a very low power consumption of just 1.1 W per channel used. While the limiter can be used both in the railroad network at 16 2/3 Hz and in the aircraft on-board network at 400 Hz, it is not suitable for inductive loads or as a starting current limiter for motors. The ESB303.LED.200/400 is now available from stock at Schukat with spring-loaded terminal connections up to 6 mm2 and an operating range of -40 to 60 °C up to 4000 m above sea level without derating.
