Phoenix Contact is focusing on a gradual change towards greater sustainability for its products. There are already solutions in the PCB terminal block, connector and electronics housing product categories that have significantly improvedCO2 balances thanks to process optimizations and sustainable materials.
With the MKDS 3 PCB terminal block, the RJ45 connector (variant 6) and electronic housings from the ICS 20 series, articles with bio-based material components are already available. These articles are made from thermoplastics based on the castor oil plant, which meet all technical and approval requirements in the same way as conventionally produced plastics. This improves the carbon balance of the products without compromising on the product requirements.
The company makes the impact of product manufacturing on the environment transparent to its customers by determining an ecological footprint for the respective product, the so-called Product Environmental Footprint (PEF). The globally renowned rating company Ecovadis recently awarded Phoenix Contact's commitment to sustainability with the gold medal, underlining the company's high standards in the area of sustainability.
