Yaskawa takes over Factory Automation from ZF
Yaskawa Europe is taking over the Factory Automation business unit of ZF Italia in Assago (Milan). The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The Italian subsidiary of the international ZF Friedrichshafen, and Yaskawa Europe have had a strategic partnership in the distribution of components for automation technology in Italy for 25 years. With the acquisition now completed, the company is strengthening its presence in the Italian market, the second largest in Europe.
"By merging the Drives, Controls and Robotics product lines, we can better realize the potential of our overall industrial automation portfolio and provide better support to Italian customers," says Norbert Gauss, President of the Drives Motion Controls Division at Yaskawa.
"We are very pleased that continuity will be maintained and that the partnership, which has been successful for a quarter of a century with the same experienced team, can only be continued in the future under a new ownership structure," says Marco Civinini, Business Unit Manager Drives Motion Controls Division and, together with Andrea Marchese, now head of the team of almost 20 people.
In addition to the Drives, Motion and Controls Division, the company has already been represented in the Robotics Division for many years with its own national subsidiary. Four locations in the metropolitan areas of Turin, Milan, Modena and Brescia are now available for the products and system solutions of the Drives, Motion and Controls Division (DMC) and the Robotics Division (RD). Operations will start on March 1, 2019.
