For the first time, the Annual General Meeting of the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers (VDWF) was held as a video conference.

The association thus made up for the meeting on its activities in 2019, which was originally scheduled for April but was postponed due to the coronavirus crisis. "2019 was a record year for us," said Managing Director Ralf Dürrwächter in his remarks. "We gained over 40 new members and achieved a turnover of over two million euros for the first time." In times of the pandemic, however, the VDWF management also looked back on a very special phase for the association and its members: "From March 2020, the world was turned upside down for us too," said VDWF President Prof. Thomas Seul. "Everything that the VDWF stands for - events, trade fairs, events - had to be canceled. However, the association quickly made the leap into digital with online formats such as the 11 o'clock hole, the late shift and the theme days. We are delighted that the industry has responded so well to this. After all, two of the association's goals are still to sustainably increase the visibility of tool and mould making and to create "meeting spaces" for industry players."

"We hope that the 2021 schedule will be the same again: with a physical meeting and the event the evening before," said Dürrwächter in his outlook for the coming financial year.
