Value stream method as a coordinating element
Consistent planning system
When launching new products, there is enormous potential for improvement, particularly at the interface between technical development and the design of production and logistics processes. To exploit this potential, Pull has developed the "Comic" planning system by Prof. Dr. Markus Schneider.
It synchronizes the planning of the necessary plant structures, processes and resources with the product development phase. Even before the start of production (SOP), the method toolkit offers a comprehensive and consistent process model for designing the four most important flows in a company - communication, material, information and capital flows - in an integrated and uniform manner.
The planning system is made up of the modules Communication Flow Design (CoFD), Material Flow Design (MFD), Information Flow Design (IFD) and Cash Flow Design (CFD).
Communication Flow Design focuses on the topic of communication between the various levels of a company, which is extremely important for the success of a project. The shared vision and the Kata management method are of central importance here. Material Flow Design includes a top-down view of the entire company site using the value stream method and a software-based and lean-compatible material flow planning system. The value stream is also used to realign traditional cost center and cost unit accounting using cash flow design. Finally, information flow design provides methods and tools to synchronize the flow of materials and information within the company.
All four building blocks are aligned using a single method, the value stream method. This is a unique selling point and offers advantages over conventional approaches in terms of the consistency of the strategies and measures developed. pb
