Trade fairs 2022

Daniel Schilling,

From person to person

In-person trade fairs are back; the events relevant to the manufacturing industry are also taking place in person again. Control and Sensor + Test are just two of the events taking place in May.

Maintenance in Dortmund kicked off at the end of March, followed by All About Automation in Friedrichshafen: after two years of cancellations, postponements and online events, the face-to-face trade fairs are back. After Easter, the PaintExpo surface technology trade fair was scheduled to take place in Karlsruhe from April 26 to 29, followed by FMB Süd in Augsburg on May 11 and 12.

The 34th Control will open its doors at the Stuttgart Exhibition Center from 3 to 6 May. This year, 584 exhibitors are listed in the directory of the international trade fair for quality assurance, after the event was canceled in 2020 and only took place virtually in 2021. A third of the exhibitors have announced that they will be coming from abroad.

In terms of content, the focus is on top innovations from the fields of vision technology, image processing, sensor technology and measurement and testing technology. The exhibition will be complemented by a congress program and the online platform "Control Virtuell".

In the following week, Sensor + Test will take place again at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center after two forced breaks. Over 300 exhibitors have already announced their participation. The date is May 10 to 12. The event aims to cover the entire metrological system expertise for measuring, testing and monitoring tasks in all sectors - from sensors to evaluation.

In addition to the exhibition in two exhibition halls, the trade fair also provides the framework for an extensive accompanying lecture program. Two congresses also use the trade fair as a framework: Sensors and sensor systems for the Internet of Things are the focus of the 21st ITG/GMA Sensors and Measurement Systems Conference. The ettc2022 European Test and Telemetry Conference on all three days of the trade fair in Hall 2 is the most important international platform for telemetry, telecontrol, test instrumentation and data processing.

A real trade fair marathon has been announced for June: In calendar week 22, four major industry trade fairs will take place in parallel between May 30 and June 3: IFAT for water and wastewater management in Munich, Hannover Messe, the intralogistics trade fair LogiMAT in Stuttgart and the northern German production trade fair Nortec in Hamburg.

There will be a similar concentration of important events in calendar week 25, when six trade fairs will take place in parallel between June 20 and 24. After all, Metav, Wire and Tube will take place at the same exhibition center in Düsseldorf. Automatica will be traveling to Munich, Embedded World to Nuremberg, Pumps & Valves to Dortmund and LaserSys to Stuttgart.

As a result, many companies have had to forego participation in events that are actually relevant and are expressing their displeasure at the accumulation of dates. INDUSTRIAL Production will report in detail on the June trade fairs in the next issue.
