Torwegge opens world of experience in Bielefeld

Almost two years after the start of construction, Torwegge officially inaugurated its new world of experience. In addition to presentations on warehousing, production and intralogistics, the program included an interactive tour of the facility. 75 visitors from industry and the press took part in the opening ceremony.

Visitors received information about digitalization and automation in intralogistics, the company's history and portfolio and were able to experience Torwegge products live. With the expansion of the site, the intralogistics specialist is reaffirming its commitment to its headquarters in Bielefeld and expanding the opportunities for direct customer contact.

"The opening of our world of experience represents an important milestone for our company. We are offering our customers another point of contact," said CEO Uwe Eschment in his opening speech. Work on the 300 square meter extension to the Bielefeld-based company's main site has been underway since January 2018.

Under the motto "Hands-on intralogistics", the company is now offering an insight into the world of material flow. The intralogistics specialist not only focuses on its own finished solutions, but also shows how they are created during interactive tours of the company. For example, visitors can visit the warehouse and the assembly department and get hands-on experience.

"By making our products tangible and accessible, we help our customers to make more targeted purchasing decisions," says Eschment. The concept of the tours was only recently developed and has now been implemented for the first time as part of the opening.

The focus of the opening ceremony was on process optimization and automation in intralogistics. Malcom Harris, Business Development Manager of the consulting company Motionminers, spoke in the keynote speech about motion data analysis and explained how it can be used to increase efficiency in warehouses and production. Jörn Dauer, Head of Intralogistics, then addressed the increasing importance of digitalization in intralogistics.
