The technically leading and largest blasting plant in Europe is to be built in Rottenacker on the Danube. The Zell company from Ehingen-Volkersheim has planned a production and dispatch hall measuring around 3,000 square meters, which will be equipped with 56 newly developed and self-built Zell blasting systems.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new company building for production, administration, plant management, quality assurance, shipping and social rooms will take place in fall 2019. After completion in a year's time, the current 40 employees will move completely; the previous company premises in Volkersheim will then continue to be used for mechanical engineering and as a reserve plant for surface technology with around 20 blasting machines. Zell wants to grow to 70 employees in the medium term and calls the construction project "Zell2022".

Growth in the surface technology division
Zell wants to continue to grow with its surface technology service and its own system technology products: The high level of interest from industry - especially from the automotive, hydraulics and mechanical engineering sectors - in Zell's proprietary precision blasting processes for die casting and highly complex geometries (dead space blasting), as well as for surface compaction (shot peening) and surface treatment is driving growth on the one hand. Zell currently blasts more than 70 million small parts in large series per year.

Automation drives demand for workpiece carriers
On the other hand, the Systems Technology division is growing due to the demand for customer-specific workpiece carriers, hardening racks and washing systems, driven by the increasing automation and robotization of industrial production and the growing requirements for cleaning processes. The new plant will create a modern development environment and administration for this business area. The "Zell2022 project" also includes the establishment of the new business area "Non-destructive measurement of surface properties". The new site in Rottenacker, with a total area of 13,500 square meters, offers the company suitable potential for future growth. pb
