Quality assurance for additive series production
Stratasys acquires the software company Riven
Stratasys has announced the acquisition of quality assurance software company Riven.
The Berkeley, California-based startup is a Stratasys connectivity software partner whose cloud-based software solution will now be fully integrated with Stratasys' GrabCAD additive manufacturing platform to benefit customers using Stratasys 3D printers with GrabCAD Print software.
"We believe that by bringing modern technology platforms and maintaining them under the Stratasys umbrella, companies like Riven can add additional growth engines to our platform. By integrating Riven's offerings into our GrabCAD software platform, we can enable more manufacturing customers to utilize Stratasys solutions for final part production," said Shaul Samara, vice president of global software at Stratasys. "These important functionalities will help ensure that parts can be 3D printed in series with the highest precision and quickly verified within a closed-loop additive manufacturing process."
Riven's cloud-based software makes it possible to quickly detect and automatically correct discrepancies between CAD files and the parts printed with them, resulting in more accurate parts and lower overall costs. A new version currently being tested uses artificial intelligence to automatically pre-adjust the models. The verification of parts in particular can be a significant bottleneck in the production process, leading to delays in many cases.
